The McElwee Home is located in the mountains surrounding the city of Almond, North Carolina overlooking the scenic lake Fontana. The home was designed and built from a custom plan. The exterior of the home includes vinyl siding, standard shingles and colonial style posts and handrails on the porch. The home was built over a full basement which is typical construction in the mountains.
The interior plan utilized the cathedral roof trusses to give the home an open look and feel. Using this type of construction allows the home to have many different angles which gives the home an interesting appeal. It also allows shelves to be incorporated into the plan at every petition wall if desired and accent lighting to be used.
The master bathroom was designed with comfort in mind. The jacuzzi tub is mounted in a custom built frame, tiled with 4 and 6 inch tiles and bordered with decorative tiles. The floor tile is 12 inch ceramic.
